animals

Changing your diaper is like wrestling an alligator. Getting you dressed is like putting clothes on a caffeinated monkey. Giving you your vitamin drops is like feeding a little baby bird.

The apartment is clean, the sun is shining, and Daddy's holding you. All is good.

Alleluia!

Last night you slept from 7:30 pm to 6:30 am WITHOUT WAKING UP ONCE!!!

missed you

Yesterday I worked from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm which means I didn't get to see you AT ALL except for in the morning to feed you. When I got home you were peacefully sleeping with your head smashed up into the southwest corner of the crib, where you always seem to end up no matter where we lay you down. I wanted to pick you up and squeeze you cause I had been missing you all day.

This pic is from Wednesday, just reading some books in your room in the afternoon.

baby's first pizza

Now it's true you've been enjoying pizza crust for a while, but on Saturday you had your first real taste of pizza, fed to you by your Great-Grammy. Thank you, Grammy!

You're going to be like the cool aunt that always has popsicles in the freezer and is really nice and fun and let's us stay up and watch TV. I love you!

baby's first Easter

What a wonderful Easter at Mimi's and Papa's. Everyone was so happy to see you! And the Easter Bunny brought all sorts of treats - bunnies and books and socks and ducks - and of course, Peeps!

baby's first real haircut

Today we went to Lulu's on 5th Ave. Rose cut your hair. You were very cooperative. Sat in my lap and didn't say a peep. So handsome!

Happy Good Friday!

Found this 40's? 50's? picture on ebay of a little boy cutting an Easter cake. I thought it looked a little like Papa when he was a boy.

erector set

Hmm, I wonder how old you have to be to play with this:

Probably not for a while.

I also wonder if Mimi kept the one we used to have?

like an old-fashioned ironing board

How cool is this? It's a changing table that flips down, and can be put up when you're done. If we lived in a tiny tiny apartment I'd have wanted this. Luckily, we have room for a changing table here.

It's from BoDesigns.

gifties in the mail!

Thank you Cousin Jesse, Auntie Kim, Uncle David and Cousin Sadie! What a treat to get a package this morning full of goodies. We love love love the Sandra Boyton book, the nursery book (with DVD!), the awesome socks, and the calming room spray (maybe that's more for Mommy? She needs calming sometimes). Here's a picture of Jackson reading his card. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!

photoshoot pic

Today James at Skip*Hop sent me this picture of you from your photoshoot. He only sent this one because the others have you playing with the top-secret, not-yet-released toys they are producing, and this was a photo without the product. You look charming.

Found on the Cookie mag website, and they got it from Stephanie in Portland.

simple pleasures

Nothing like a good old-fashioned paper bag puppet for a bit of dinnertime fun!

your pototo loving great-grandfather

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, I thought I'd tell you a little bit about your great-grandfather, William Henry Capellaro. Grandpa wasn't Irish, but he married an Irish girl, Muriel Isabel Cuddy. It must be the Irish in her that makes really good potatoes. So good, that Grandpa had them at every lunch and dinner every day of their life together. It didn't matter if they were baked, boiled, mashed, fried, scalloped, au gratin, or in salad, but he had 'em. That's a lot of potatoes when you add in the fact that they were married over 75 years! Here's the photo that ran in the local newspaper when they celebrated their Diamond anniversary.
P.S. Daddy and I were married on the same day they were married, August 30th.

egg dying project

On Friday, Kate came over and we dyed Easter eggs. You weren't feeling so well (still aren't). When you weren't attached to me in the Ergo Carrier, you sat in your chair with your blankie and watched. The eggs didn't turn out like we thought they would, but were still beautiful nonetheless. The photos of the eggs are by Kate.

skip hop photoshoot

Today you had your Skip Hop photoshoot at Room Studio in Manhattan, and overall it went pretty well. You were supercute and they loved you, but it is always hard to make you play with something you don't want to be playing with. They are coming out with a new line of toys so you got to play with a ball, some stacking rings, and some other cool stuff. We get to pick out any three things we want from the collection, so I am leaning towards this, and maybe this. You also got to keep the cute little seersucker pants and blue shirt they put you in. We have to look for your picture on the packaging and the website, but it'll probably be a while til we see anything. I'm hoping to get a few pictures from the photographer in the meantime.

dwell baby @ target

Even though I hate Target (because of their ridiculous return policy), I was tempted to get this for you the other day.

I stopped myself when I realized that even though it says 0-24 mos. you are probably already too long for it. What a shame.

blue sweater

The top picture shows you in the blue sweater you've been wearing a lot this winter. The bottom picture is from an old issue of the out-of-print magazine, Martha Stewart Baby. See the baby in the upper left-hand corner? That's your sweater!

in a store's Easter display window

Yesterday while walking down 5th Ave. in Brooklyn I saw this book, The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes by Dubose Heyward, with illustrations by Marjorie Flack. I have vague memories of reading it when I was little. It was such a treat to look at the pictures. I want to get it for you.

you are my baby!

you:

me:

When Jon, walking around with you in his arms, saw this picture hanging on Mimi's fridge at home, he said "look, there's you!" For a split second, he really thought it was you!

easter treats

Yesterday you got a package full of Easter goodies from Aunt Nikki & Cousin Sammy. You really wanted to get to those peeps. A baby after my own heart. I love peeps. Thank you , Nikki!

no longer a vegetarian

Until this morning, you had never tasted meat or poultry. This morning, Vegetable Turkey dinner. Loved it.

easter comes early this year

I didn't realize Easter is just around the corner.

I also didn't realize that I now really and finally have a good reason to invest in some nice Easter grass. The Easter Bunny's coming this year!

we're thinking of you Sammy!

Cousin Sammy has to have surgery tomorrow. We are praying and thinking of you and we know everything will go just fine!

little nutbrown hare

Someone gave you a little stuffed bunny that you used to like to sit in your swing with. I just found this book and realized it's the same bunny. I like this book because we used to say "we love you THIIIIIISSSSS MUCCCCHHHH" and spread your arms out wide, and that's just what the book is about.

visiting mimi and papa

We're in Connecticut for a few days, visiting with your Mimi and Papa.
It's no surprise that you're being spoiled a little being here. Aside from all the new toys and new clothes, you get lots of attention, cuddles and smooches.
You also got a super duper new play yard (what used to be called a play pen). It has eight sides and keeps you happily contained and away from the stairs. Thank you, Mimi!

9 mos. check up

This morning we went for your 9 month check-up. You are perfectly healthy. You weigh 19 lbs (although it feels like a lot more when you're in your carrier), and are 30 inches long. That puts you in the 92% for height, but only 23% percentile for weight. You are long and skinny.

happy birthday, Uncle Sam!

Saturday was Sam's 35th birthday. Happy Birthday, old man!
(this picture is from last September).

saturday brunch

Saturday we went to brunch at Brett and Bryan's, where you hung out with Gael and Hayden while the grown-ups ate waffles and bacon. Delicious!
