wild frontier

We had a great weekend in Pennsylvania. The wedding was beautiful. The weather was great. Celebrating with friends was awesome.

On our way back we stopped at the world's smallest village. So cool. Then we went to Haag's in Shartsville and had pierogis. We went to the Pennsylvania Dutch Gift HAUS where you tried on this coonskin cap:

The coonskin cap eventually became a part of the iconic image associated with American frontiersmen such as Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett. Boone did not actually wear coonskin caps, which he disliked, and instead wore felt hats. (wikipedia).

I'll post more pictures from the weekend as soon as we upload them.

baby's first time in Pennsylvania!

Tomorrow we're going to Pennsylvania to Kyle and Jackie's wedding. We're so excited! Amanda's going in the car with us for our ROAD TRIP! And Jamie will be in the car on the way back. Jamie and Amanda have known you since you were a pea in the pod, and love you very much. Here's a picture of them with you, from last July. You are such a chubby-cheeked little munchkin.

We can't wait to celebrate the wedding with everyone. Congratulations to Jackie and Kyle!

funny bone

Jackson giggling:

And, although that looks like a big piece of parmesan cheese, it is actually a big piece of toast. You're Italian, but not THAT Italian.

they'll be home soon!

Mimi and Papa have been in Japan. Jackson tried to email you but you weren't checking your emails! We missed you a lot. Can't wait to see you soon.

While we're on the topic of music, I've been wanting to mention how much you love your Mozart Magic Cube that Aunt Nikki gave you. You've learned that pushing the buttons makes the sounds start and stop, and you can sit there and push them for 10 minutes straight. All the while, reaping the benefits of The Mozart Effect.

baby's got a new noisemaker

Yesterday we got you a harmonica. You might not be ready for it yet but you do like to chew on it. You are teething again. Not too fun. Appropriately enough, you got the blues.

As soon as you wake up from your nap, we are grabbing a blanket and some cheerios and heading for the park. It's like, 70 degrees out today!

baby's first swing ride

Now that the weather's finally getting nicer, we've been getting out of the house more. On Friday afternoon you had your first official swing ride in the playground on 5th Ave. You look a litte apprehensive in this picture, but I think you liked it.

hang ten

A few years ago I scored this huge bin of quilling paper at a Martha Stewart tag sale. I think I paid $2.00 for it all.

I'd been wanting to make you a mobile since I was about 6 months pregnant. The MoMA store sells one like this. Finally, I got it together and just did it. Here's a shot of the pretty papers lined up & ready to go:

And here's the final product, hanging over your changing table:

When you see it, you smile, and that makes my day.

favorite pic

Jon took this picture this weekend. It might be one of my most favorite pictures of you ever.

two things

1. Baby Gap has a new collection - Baby Gap Home. There is one on 34th Street I'd like to check out.
2. They have this cute mobile. Brett suggested putting a mobile over your changing table to prevent you from wriggling and sqirming away from me. I've been meaning to make you a mobile for a while, I think I might finally have to batten down and do it.

superstar!

Today we had your Getty photoshoot. It went GREAT! They loved you and you were such a sport. The photographer, Ben Bloom, got some amazing shots of you, you and me, and you and Jon. These shots are a bit like what they were going for, but a little moodier and dramatic, and more "real".

You were so good we were done at 3:30 (I thought they would be here til 8pm) and their goal was 8 really good shots and they left with about 20!

stand up and get measured

Now that you're really growing, and can officially stand up, we thought we should start measuring you. I was looking around online and saw a lot of horrible growth charts, then found this nice one on etsy. I definitely want soemthing we can roll up and take with us when we eventually leave this apartment. But now I'm thinking, I should probably make you one. Add it to the list of projects!

this is how you crawl

Remember those wind-up dolls that crawl? This one is from 1977. Anyway, that is exactly what you look like when you crawl, when you do your afternoon laps around the apartment.

thank you Uncle Michael and Auntie Gwyn!

On Saturday, we left you with Uncle Michael and Auntie Gwyn for our FIRST NIGHT OUT alone together just me and Daddy. We went to Applewood and had an awesome dinner. We left you sleeping peacefully in your crib, only to return a couple of hours later to find you sleeping peacefully in your crib. Then we found out that you were up for 20 minutes screaming and crying and poor Michael had to rock you and pet you til you fell back asleep on his lap. In your room. In the dark. On a hard wooden chair. Luckily he was able to make the dreaded transfer back into the crib and you stayed asleep.

THANK YOU MICHAEL AND GWYN!!!

last post ever

That's it. I'm done with this blog thing. This will be my last post.

APRIL FOOL'S!

There are so many cute children's stores in Brooklyn. This is one of them - Pomme. They have the best stuff, including this rabbit nightlight. I guess I still have a little Easter spirit left in me....

They also have a neat list of things to do in Dumbo, including, of course, eat Grimaldi's Pizza. Yes, please. I wish I could copy and paste the list of things to do but I am not able to. So you will have to check it out yourself: go to http://pommenyc.com/ then click on dumbo.

something's not right here

You look like you're reading. But your book, Goodnight Moon, is upside-down. Nice try, buddy!
