yarn-covered letters

I just saw this project on BloesemKids and can't wait to do it with Jackson. Maybe Cade. Maybe not. Maybe not even Jackson yet now that I think about it. File under future project.

paper bag wreath

This super-cute paper bag wreath looks entirely do-able with Jackson. From Bloesom Kids, one of my favs.

tent!

This tent looks like it is simply made of two stretched canvases - smart! The real fun could start when you let your kids paint them...

Way better than my lame method of draping sheets and blankets over the furniture and hoping the chairs don't topple over onto someone's head.

{Saw it on Bloesem Kids.}

pillows

CB2 sells these pillows. I can't wait to make our own once I get me some fabric paint.

If you're not in New York, you're camping out. ~Thomas E. Dewey

I've long dreamed of making them a tent to play in. However, I know Cade would just knock it over unless we bolted it to the floor.

Plus, it wouldn't look anything like this picture. Mostly because it would take up our whole living room.

(from Dwell, I think).

on the to-do list

To make with Jackson. Need those paper-clip butterfly things.

Paper animal puppets by Furze Chan. Spotted on Oh Joy.

printed fabric

I had heard of printing your own fabric on Spoonflower. The potential there is huge. But this is way better than I could have imagined - bird fabric - printed from her children's drawings - is wonderful! Although our version might have to be red race cars or brown tow trucks.

let it snow

I wish I could get it together enough to make these DIY snow globes with Jackson.

cereal boxes, of which we have plenty

I want to make a whole winter village with Jackson!

mechanical animals

These are so neat. Too bad they are sold out. I am going to have to make some myself with Jackson.

what a difference a year makes!

We got the Christmas decorations out on Sunday - - and there are only three stockings! It seems unbelievable that Cade wasn't even born this time last year. I better get to work on his stocking!

Brett's wedding

Brett and Bryan are getting married at the end of September. (Exciting!) I've always wanted to put Jackson in a little tie and thought this might be the perfect opportunity. (I wanted Cade to wear one too, but on second thought, that might be a choking hazzard. He'll have to wear one of these.)

I briefly thought, "I can make it myself! How hard can it be?!" Then I found these detailed instructions and pretty much gave up before I even started. Oh well. File it away in the "future projects" drawer. I'll have to get him one of these.

backyard movies

Our TV broke, which normally would not bother me, but this week has been hard for me to sit down and put my feet up at the end of the day, and I'm exhausted, so I really have kind of needed the TV. (I read all the books I had next to my bed).

Thankfully, Jon brought home the projector they had at work. We hung a sheet up between the windows and TA-DA.

I hope some day we can watch movies with the boys in the backyard, with blankets, tents, popcorn, s'mores (or maybe some s'mores cupcakes, mmm), ginger ale. When I told that to Jon he said, "Yeah, the latest Pixar movie!"

I can't wait.

tee pees

When we were little we had a little red tee pee. It was kept in the shed and it always smelled a little funny.

Someday we'll have one for the boys. Maybe like this one. So sweet.

terrariawesome

Just the other day, I was talking to Mimi about creating a terrarium. Then I get an email from Michael showing me his new amazing homemade terrariums. Then I see this book on Cookie's Nesting site. Then I remember that I wanted to make one last August. Jackson, I wish you were old enough for Michael and you to make one together. Someday?

PS. The author of the book, Tovah Martin, once wrote an article about Mimi and her garden for a local newspaper.

{Top photo from nesting, bottom two are Michael's.}

snow fun

Squirt bottles filled with water and spiked with food coloring - doesn't that sound like fun? We'll file this idea away for next winter.

From Wondertime.
