speaking of bunk beds

I'm cracking up because if we had this, the room is so small they would slide right into the wall.

Maybe we could do this instead. So cool.

dream catcher of sorts

Jackson's been having some bad dreams at night. We put up this not-really-a-dream-catcher-but-pretty-close-thingy that Mimi brought down in a box of craft supplies from Great Aunt Jane (thank you!). He didn't mention bad dreams this morning so maybe it worked.

I also put up more family pictures and drawings he loves (X-Wing watercolor by Dada), and set up his Empire State Building collection close-by.

I would have bad dreams too if I slept in a room this messy.

big boy beds all around

So among other big changes recently, Cade has moved to a big boy bed ~ since he's pretty much potty-trained and needs to be able to go....although he won't, on his own, yet..... We put Jackson in the bigger side of the two rooms and Cade's now is in Jackson's old bed and room. Jackson's sleeping in the daybed I got on Dean Street - the mattress on the floor next to him in case this happens, a high probability, although he's getting better.....

oh dear!

Wishing I had the energy to attempt something like this giant paint-by-number mural in Jackson's room.

chalkboard labels

It's taken me two and a half years to change the labels on Cade's bin from the "B" (for Baby) that I did before he was born. I got these chalkboard labels at Staples. I'm pretty excited about them. And pretty excited about feeling organized. Not that I expect them to last though- we'll see who figures out first that the letters wipe off quite easily. OR that the labels themselves might be fun to peel off the bins (Cade, ahem, I'm looking at you).

The Moon in My Room

Mimi and Nonno got Jackson the best Christmas gift this year, since he's so interested in the moon - a realistic, moon night-light, with authentically detailed 3-D lunar landscape, and a remote control to show the 12 main phases of the moon. It's really cool, and such a great gift. I think every kid should have this in their room!

P.S. His moon fascination started with these patches on his pants.

bows and berries

Yellow and grey floral sheets. Only twin available, which means two pillowcases. If they weren't so $$$, I would get them for boys' room. I think they would look so good with their yellow and white striped comforter covers.

Jackson's already talking about his future bunk bed.

undecorate

This little girls room is from the book Undecorate by Christiane Lemieux. I love the sparse architectural drawing in the white frame.

Cade's room, formerly Jackson's room, has an ongoing collection of prints. Nothing white and pretty and pink though.

PS I would like this book for my birthday, Jon.

deer with butterflies

Surfing the web, looking at bedding, saw the print that Jackson has in his room.

PS It's 16x20 - $60.00, Edition of 75. Paid - $3.00, thrift store.

books

Switched Jackson and Cade's rooms. Moved bookcase. Pile of books pre-transfer.

(I've always like the way books look stacked horizontally.)

that's what I call grinning from ear to ear

Last week, this picture of Jackson arrived in the mail. Jackson's grin was as big when he opened the package as it was is in picture. Thank you Auntie Nikki! It's on Jackson's wall, and every time Cade sees it he yells, "BOAT!!!" even though, technically, there was no boat.

And here is Cade a few months ago. You can see the collection on Jackson's wall has been slowly growing.  AS HAS CADE.

Old House Bookshelf

I do like this bookcase. It would be good for all the books that currently live on the floor in their rooms. Too bad there is no room for it. Especially since Cade's side is officially the size of a closet.

It reminds me of Jackson's old daybed.

Cade's room

I finally got around to making a semi-curtain for Cade. While it doesn't do much to keep light out (there's a roller blind behind it), it does warm up the room a little.  I like the pistachio color of the walls, but it's always felt a little cold in there. I tried to do some big pleats at the top. That is why the curtain is bowing out past the window frame. Oh well.

And here's his little shelf while we're at it. My favorite things are up there - so they don't get destroyed. I love that puzzle that Great-Grammy got him for Christmas. So much that I haven't even let them play with it!

C A D E

This is a simple idea that I could do for Cade very easily.

The letters would have to be really good though. And fit into some of the vintage frames I have in the basement.

bunk beds, eventually

I like this one. But I think we'll get ours from Ikea for $149. I'm not going to even bother converting Price: € 2100.- but I can take a gander....

littlest chair for the littlest room

I got the littlest upholstered chair that Ikea sells for Cade's room. It was on my to-do list to recover it. Now I realize that is not going to happen. It will stay off-white. At least until it is too dirty, then maybe we can do this to it!

PS Also, that fabric on the chair:

Curtains. Also might never happen.
