pajama pizza party

Last Friday we went to Brett's house for a pajama pizza party. Here's some pictures of you guys rockin' it out in the bedroom. I love these pics because they totally capture the fun you were having with Hayden and Gael. And here's Hayden in his sweet shark mask:

remember our getty shoot?

Many months ago we were photographed for Getty Images. The images are finally online. The one above is definitely my favorite. You already look so much older. There are several more images of us here.

thank you abigail and steven!

for the gorgeous flowers. And for the box they came in - which has kept Jackson busy for the past ten minutes while I took this picture.

the sweetest bedding I've ever seen

Today my friend Jill emailed be a link to a beautiful bedding collection: Rikshaw Design. The little stuffed elephants are adorable. I would love to get you the blue one. The photography, by Ericka McConnell, is amazing. I LOVE her kids and babies images.

happy birthday, mama!

What a good birthday. The best part was coming home from work and seeing your smile! You made my day. You also picked out a really nice present for me:

which I thought was appropriate because I used your little yellow boots today in my photoshoot (see picture of props below):

Thank you to all the family and friends who called and emailed to say HaPpY BiRtHdaY!!

PS: your cute little boots made it into one shot:

counting song I think you might like, mostly 'cause I like it

{saw it on marvelous kiddo}

wednesday from our vacation in saugerties

We hiked up Overlook Mountain. Hiked in 95 degree weather, straight up 3,000 feet. Daddy carried you in the backpack, you fell asleep about ten minutes in. At the top we found the ruins of the Overlook Hotel. We put you down in the path, still sleeping, while we feasted on lunch. We also found wild blueberries, which John and I picked. That night we had fresh wild blueberry/raspberry/peach cobbler. It was DELICIOUS.

introducing the sammymac line!

How cool is this?! Your cousin has his own clothing line - starting with supercute and supercool t-shirts. I love the witty sayings, and the story of sammy mac! Check it out here: sammymac.com.

picture time

Jackson, you're booked again! for another photoshoot for SkipHop. The shoot will be next week at this location. I'm sure you will blow them away with your cuteness again.

just like daddy, almost

I almost got this for you yesterday. You might not know it yet, but your father has a penchant for questionable sweatshirts. I looked for a picture to show you this but can't find one. Probably because I refuse to take a picture of him while he is wearing them. Anyway, after I got home and looked it up online I saw it's considered 'girl'. But I think it's OK, in a kind of European way. It was on sale, but not quite on sale enough. You'd look cute in it. If it was on sale more, I mean.

photoshoot

Remember that day we went to Connecticut and Mimi and Nano watched you while Kate and I took some photographs? No, you don't remember? Well, you were really cranky that day anyway. Here are some of the images we got. I think they look great. I need to add them to my website!

wow

Wouldn't it be lovely to live like this? I don't think I have it in me to hand you a set of magic markers & let you have a go at a John Derian sofa.

{found on Cookie's nesting website}

97 degrees in the shade

We're in the middle of a heat wave, and boy were we all cranky today. We sweated it out at the playground this morning (notice how we're the only fools there), then stayed inside the rest of the day.

Mimi's show at the Silo

Last night Mimi had an opening at the Silo Gallery in New Milford, CT. We're sad we weren't able to attend but we're sure it was a wonderful opening. You can see more of her work here.

I sure hope you're as creative and talented as your grandparents!

dark n stormies

Almost every night, after you were in your crib asleep, Ruth or John made me a magical drink called a Dark N Stormy. Here's the recipe for when you are old enough:

2 oz Gosling’s Black Seal rum
5 oz ginger beer
quarter of one lime

Squeeze the lime wedge over ice in a chimney glass. Build the rum and ginger beer, and stir to combine. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve.

thursday's controversial post

Well, it seems that my last post stirred up a little grumbling from some people, who felt I mis-represented the week upstate by only including the pictures of you and me on the hammock. The following pictures ALSO sum up the wonderful week in Saugerties:

sums it up

These pictures just capture our week here:

concert at the library

Tuesday evening we were so lucky to get to see one of our favorite artists perform. Elizabeth Mitchell sang at the Woodstock Public Library. We have been listening to her songs since you were a wee little baby. There's one song, "So Glad I'm Here" that, in those special days when we just got you home from the hospital, I would sing to you while we waited for Daddy to get home, rocking you back and forth in my arms.

You loved the concert, leaving my side to crawl into the center of the rug, dancing, and at one point, shaking an orange morocco that someone had given you.

I smiled when she started the concert by singing the Little Bird song. The name of this blog, Molasses Candy, is actually a lyric from that song. I love it, I love to sing it to you, and I think you love it too.

monday

Monday we went Saugerties Lighthouse, rated one of the top five lighthouses in America. The stone lighthouse, built on a 40 by 50 foot timber framed pier, was completed in 1838, and its light consisted of five whale oil lamps set in parabolic reflectors.

Two other things: it's also a Bed and Breakfast, booked through the end of the year, and thelighthousekeeper keeps a journal about his life there.
