thanksgiving 2012

I often do this: think to myself, "this time I'm going to post these photos right away and be done with it!" This is what happens: I wait a week to upload the 1000 pictures from the camera, I'm not happy with most of them, I want to color correct some of them, I want to write a well-written, heartfelt post that explains in detail everything we did, ate, said....and why there is a creepy monkey in the pictures.....

And here it is OVER ONE MONTH after Thanksgiving, and I'm posting our family pictures..I tell you. I don't know.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! hahaahaha!

village under the tree

Our village under the tree - of cereal boxes and other assorted boxes- is growing. This year has seen the addition of some castle blocks and a deer or two.

Here's last year's:

And here is a store display in Williamsburg (thanks, Jess for the picture!) that I want it to look like some day!:

thanksgiving

This year we were lucky enough to spend Thanksgiving in Binghamton, NY at Auntie Gwyneth's parents Lorna and Conrad. As you can see from the pictures, the food was outstanding. Turkey, green beans, stuffing, ham (Jon's favorite), rich red cranberry relish, savory and sweet stuffed acorn squash, gravy, cheddar and corn muffins ~ and a roaring fire in the other room. And of course, the good company of our families being together.

Yet with all this delicious food, this is what Jackson and Cade had for their Thanksgiving dinner 2010: Jackson had four crackers with brie, and Cade had three quarters of a corn-cheddar muffin.

Then Cade almost knocked over Conrad's beautiful handmade console and proceeded to stomp on the dried flowers that were scattered on the floor.

Then we all drove over to Michael and Gwyn's NEW HOME!!! Which is fantastic, and huge, and light-filled, and spacious, and has more closets in its little finger than we have in our entire home here in Brooklyn.

We had pie, and pie and pie, and full bellies, and went to bed stuffed to the gills. More on the rest of the weekend soon.

Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving too!

easter pictures

Great Aunt Jane sent some pictures of Great-Grammy and Great-Grammy and family, Easter, around 1956. I like the little bunny toy Robert or David is holding in the second picture.

Jane, Mary Lou, David and Robert (or maybe the other way around), I think it was in 1956, ready to go to church. Sorry, no Bill, Bill was In The Army? Also Dad and the twins and Mom and the twins on Mother's day same year.

Too bad we don't have a little coat and hat like that for you, Jackson!

easter

How did Easter sneak up on me already? Is it really next weekend?

I think it's time to introduce Jackson to the Capellaro tradition of egg-fighting. I'm usually champion in this event, won by having the strongest dyed egg. Eggs are held in the hand and tapped against the opponent's until one of them cracks. Loser is permitted to turn his or her egg around to try again with the other side. The trick is picking an egg that doesn't have an air bubble on the end.

Can't wait to beat Uncle Michael and Uncle David and Cousin Jessee this year. Bring it on!

As promised, here are some more pictures from Thursday that Kate took. You were so happy, especially when you tasted that cupcake for the first time.

And my personal favorite - once I took the sugar-loaded cupcake away from you:

happy valentine's day!

Yesterday Kate shot some photos of Jackson for Valentine's Day. Here's my very favorite. Tomorrow I'll post pictures of what happened when we let him eat the cupcake.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.
