happy father's day, Dada!

Dada,

For the second year in a row, we're not being with you on Father's Day. It goes without saying that we all miss you so much. So for you, a poem that Cade brought home yesterday (full of references that he has no idea what they mean):

You're the peanut to my butter
the star to my burst
the pop to my tart
the fruit to my loop
But most
importantly,
You're the
BEST to my FRIEND!
Happy Father's Day!

We love you more than any poem could ever express, and certainly more than one blog post could say. We love you more than the loops in the fruit.

Told Cade we were going to visit Mimi and Nonno on Father's Day. Cade got a big smile, and said, "YAY! That means.......... we get to have corn english muffins!"

father's day present

Jon, Jackson made you this construction for Father's Day - it is a playground with a note that says, "to Dad I like to to play with Dad." I didn't want to send it to you because I'm not sure if you had a good place to properly display it. It will wait here for you.

And here's his card:

dreaming.....

......of being with you, on Father's Day, Dada!

Jon, we miss you so much. I hope we never have to spend another Father's Day apart from you!

This is so hard. Clearly, we all miss you so much. Everyday, I feel the pain of your absence and can't wait for the day that our family can be together again. Being without you has shown me just how much we love you, and appreciate you, and cherish you, and need you. I'm sorry you're missing us/me/them, but I am so proud of you. While I struggle with them everyday, I can't imagine how much you must be missing them right now.

Know that we love you every minute of every day or every hour.

Happy Father's Day, Dada! Now make that movie and come back soon!

Jackson's first real movie

Jackson, someday you'll tell people, "The first movie I ever saw in a theater was Toy Story 3 when I was three years old. " Just like I can say, "The first movie I ever saw in a theater was Poltergiest when I was 9 years old."

Dada took you for Father's Day. You sat on his lap the entire time. And ate popcorn. And chuckled twice.

happy father's day, Dada!

Dada,

I find it so hard to believe that this is your first Father-of-two's Day. I can't believe when I look back at last year's post and see only pictures of you and Jackson! Needless to say, this year has been crazy - and when I think back on it - what I'm most grateful for is you. Life would be impossible without you. Thank you for your unending help, patience, love and understanding. Thank you for cooking, cleaning, getting up in the night to sooth Cade with your magic touch. Thank you for making me laugh on the inside even if I didn't laugh on the outside. Thank you for everything.

You are an amazing father. It lifts my heart to hear your key in the door every night. And to hear Jackson's little footsteps run across the room to greet you every night. And to see Cade lift up is arms to you when he sees you.

We love you.

Love, Mama

father's day crafting

Someone really likes glue.

Happy Father's Day Dada!

Dada,

You know how much I love you: you know it by the way I sit at the window and wait for you to come home, by the way I throw my little arms around you to give you a hug, then pull back and reassess you before I give you a big kiss (to make sure you're ready for it, I think), by the way I ONLY want to play with you in the morning, and if I don't, boy do I sure let Mama know that I am not happy about it, and by the way I squeal with delight when you do Robot Daddy, or pick me up and fly me around the playground, or run around and around and around the closet in the entry way over and over and over again with me.

I know you will be bringing a new baby home and I know you are going to be the best Daddy to him too. Just think of how well I prepared you for it! Just remember, I taught you everything you know. You don't have to thank me, but you know, just want you to remember.

Happy Father's Day Dada. I love you so incredibly much. More than last year, if that's even possible.

Love,
Jackson
