congrats Sam + Jeniza
This past weekend Mimi and Nonno came to babysit so we could go to Sam and Jeniza's wedding. It was a beautiful and fun night. Congrats to Sam and Jeniza and thank you to Mimi and Nonno (Jackson stayed up 'til 10 pm)!
Here is Jon's boutonnière, he was one of Sam's groomsmen.

baby's first wedding

Well, not really, since he didn't actually go to the wedding. But he did go to Austin with us.
Jamie and Amanda's wedding was awesome. Everything was perfect - Amanda's pink dress, blue shoes, flowers, venue, beautiful view of Texas hills behind the ceremony, cupcakes, photobooth, good food, TOASTS!, fabulous + beautiful friends, hilarious grandmother. The blue grass band was so good.
We had a great time.
Too bad on the flight back Cade slept a total of 44 minutes, and the rest of the time was like a rabid squirrel on our laps. Oh yeah, a squirrel that recently learned how to scream like a girl in a horror movie. Nightmare on Jet Blue. To be avoided at all costs.
But as Jon said, nice that he got to spend a little time with Cade alone, for the first time.
update : the wedding is featured on style me pretty!

wedding photobooth love

Remember Brett & Bryan's wedding? One of my favorite parts of it was the photobooth. Here are the few I managed to get my hands on. I wish I had more - they're all so good!

loves me, loves me not

Ever since I saw that top picture, I was really excited to do little boutonnieres for Gael and Hayden. They both looked so handsome when they came out in their little suits. Then Jon and I were cracking up when Gael started picking the petals of the dahlia one by one during the ceremony.....

babies' first wedding

So Saturday we celebrated Brett and Bryan's wedding here in Brooklyn. It was beautiful. The ceremony was so heartfelt and moving. Brett was beautiful, Bryan was dapper, and of course, Gael and Hayden were stunning in their little suits.
I went to the Brooklyn Farmer's Market at 8 am and got buckets full of the most beautiful dahilas, cosmos, salvia, butterfly weed, a few zinnias and a cornflower blue flower I don't know the name of (Mom? Jane? Help?). Everyone pitched in, helping decorate with the tissue paper flower garlands (inspired by), the lanterns (inspired by), the lights, cleaning up, and the awesome photobooth. (I don't have any pictures from the photo booth yet but hopefully will soon.)
The Moroccan-inspired menu was delicious. The cupcakes were pretty, perfect, AND delicious.
Cade was all dressed up in his new bib from Aunt Penny. Jackson was all dressed up in his bow-tie I made last week (yes, I did it), and Abigail's gorgeous green hand-knit sweater.
When we were dancing, Hayden was throwing a green bowler up in the air. Jackson thought that was HILARIOUS. Last night during dinner, I was asked to play the "Hayden Hat song" 8, maybe 9 times in a row.
All around, it was a perfect, lovely celebration. Congratulations again to Brett, Bryan, Hayden & Gael. We love you all so much. (And it's no secret that Jackson doesn't just love Brett, but he LOVES her. He has a crush on her. And with good reason!) All the very best for your life together!

What a wedding! It was so beautiful & amazing.
I love this picture of Jackson and Gael getting the party started. More pics tomorrow, I promise.
Til then, we're still recovering from the full weekend. Jackson didn't go to bed til 9:30 tonight. Crikey!

Tonight Claricia came while we went to Matt's wedding. Might I say, it was so wonderful?
1. it was at Frankies on Court Street, and the food was amazing. I kept saying to Jon, 'why don't we go come here more often?!' I was full after the antipasti - and there were still four courses to come!
2. they decorated with beautiful arrangements and those HUGE balloons Oh Happy Day has posted about (which I LOVE).
3. the favors were the prettiest chocolates (Mast Brothers Chocolates, from Brooklyn), with the most wonderful packaging. AND sea salt on the dark chocolate! oh lordy!
4. i wore a new j crew dress (can't even find it on the website) and the designer of the dress (one of the bridesmaids) introduced herself and complimented me on my 'accessorizing' of the dress. the dress has pockets. and ruffles.
5. did I mention the food was delicious?
6. it all started with a beautifully addressed envelope arriving in the mail a few months ago. and the name cards were equally as beautiful ~ with a little sprig of eucalyptus tied on with velvet ribbon. i love white ink on chocolate brown background. someday i'll learn how to do calligraphy for real. sigh. {update February 6, 2009: in a Daily Candy email sent out today, the calligrapher was featured. Turns out our envelope is one she uses for her examples: look here.}
7. the cake toppers looked very much like the bride and groom.
& they had polaroid cameras, film, and these beautiful books for polaroids and writing messages to the bride and groom.
congratulations Matt & Karen! we wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!
