while we're on the topic of outerwear

Today we hit the motherlode jackpot bonanza big time at the thrift store in CT. The best = this Hanna Anderson Expedition Jacket (the red orange blue one), which retails for $83.00, although now it is on sale for $60. Price paid today.....$2.50!! It's a sin!

to keep you warm, part II

Um, adorable monkey hat from citefuzz on etsy. If only I could knit more than a rectangle.

Found this card kit in a drawer and you were loving it. Here are two of my favorites that you made.

Nonno has to go in for some tests.

If anyone reading these words right now could say a special prayer for my dad, I'll be forever grateful.

Dad we love you so much and are thinking of you every minute of the day. We're sending you all of our love and positive thoughts and we can't wait to see you and be with you next week.

long-necked corraller

You have a lot of books. These bright yellow giraffe bookends would help corral them.

new favorite

Clementines. Tis the season for them.

Just learned tonight that your Great-Aunt Jane is not feeling well. We'll be praying for you, Jane. We love you.

to keep you warm

Flannel crib sheets are hard to find! I've looked everywhere and they're always sold out or ugly. I found these on ebay but I'm not sure if you would ever get to sleep or not. You'd be too busy looking at the firetrucks and going "Mm? Mm?" til someone came in and said, "Yes, those are firetrucks!"

We miss Sammy!

We had a great time in Massachusetts this weekend - and here is my FAVORITE picture of the cousins....!

might be the happiest day of your life

Not one, but two, fire trucks right outside our window, while we wait for Daddy to come home.

we're off!

To Massachusetts to see Bebe, Papi, Auntie Nikki, Uncle Darin and Cousin Sammy! Yippee!

i know, i know

It's crazy - the stores are ALREADY setting up their Christmas displays. Not that I don't love Christmas, and all the excitement and joy it brings. I cannot wait to create our own special holiday traditions with you. One thing I've always wanted to do - put your own personal Christmas tree in your own room. In actuality, this would be terrible. For one thing, the needles dropping on the floor? Ack!

But wouldn't it be oh, so, sweet?

just your size

After watching you try and maneuver my broom, which is roughly three and a half times your height, Uncle Michael came by on Sunday and dropped this off - your very own, to scale, broom. Also came with a pint sized dust pan and brush. Thank you Uncle!

oink

When you're not pointing at a train, truck, car, plane or fire engine, you might just point at a pig or a cow. I wish I knew how to knit you some of these cute little ones.

vedder you iss dere or here

Mimi likes this picture because you look like a little dutch boy.

Like this one:

and this one:

paper table

When I was little, Mimi had a huge stack of newsprint for us to draw on whenever we wanted. Children are apt to make one little mark then want a new piece of paper to start again. I saw this neat-o table, the schreibtisch, on One + Infinity. Pretty neat, right?

beep beep

This morning we went to the New York City Transit Museum - and boy did you love it (even though you don't look like you do in that last picture.) You loved the buses and subway cars, while I loved seeing the old advertisements and signage:

3 minutes and 48 seconds

Time it takes for you to walk by yourself, up three flights of stairs ~ including stopping to stare at the wall for 12 seconds, stopping to tap the top of each newel post, and time lost insisting that we live on the 2nd floor, in the apartment directly below us.

yay America!

I think this picture just about sums up all of our feelings on Tuesday night when we watched Obama win the presidency.

Jackson, you were 17 months old when Obama was elected the 44th president, in an historic presidential election. The entire world, not just America, is hopeful. I'm full of joy, relief, and today - proud to be an American!

in the spirit

We're having some people over to watch the election results tonight. Maybe you'll get to stay up late on this important occasion.

baby's first election

We voted as a family early this morning at PS 38 on Pacific Street. Despite long lines for other districts, it took us all of 15 minutes from start to finish.

plates

I'd love to make some of these melamine plates with your drawings, someday, inspired by Lena Corwin's Travel plates. I found a Make-A-Plate Kit online. I'll have to file this away for a few years.

new blankie

Great-Grammy crocheted you a new blankie that you've become quite attached to already. I love it because Grammy made it especially for you. Thank you, Great-Grammy! I love you.

PS & I love your bed-head in these pictures.
